From books like Smile to classic superhero tales, graphic novels let creators use both images and words for a unique and effective style of storytelling. Learn how traditional writing techniques can be used in new ways as you begin to make your own comic book or graphic novel. All drawing skill levels welcome. In this workshop, we will explore the different techniques for developing "real people," with close attention paid to how character-writing shapes stories and essays. We will examine short fiction, short narrative essays, and experimental prose. In this workshop we will explore the relationship between our physicals and cerebral selves. We will incorporate simple movement techniques to give us to new information and inspiration to write from. No movement experience is necessary. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes.
