The Austin Public Library serves the City of Austin and its residents with 21 branches across the city, including the Central Library, which opened in October 2017. The Austin Public Library also includes the Austin History Center and the retired John H. Faulk Library downtown; Recycled Reads, the library's used bookstore; and the APL Mobile Library. The library's mission is to provide knowledge, technology, and inspiration to the Austin community. Library branches are hubs for books and education, meeting places where children can learn and discover, and spaces where adults can acquire new skills, advance their careers, and hatch new ideas! Nearly 700,000 Austinites are library card-holders, and more than 100,000 people visit the Central Library each month alone!

The Austin Public Library is open! To see the most up-to-date information on library hours, locations and services, please visit the APL website here. The virtual library is also available to all Austin Public Library cardholders.
