The Library Foundation conducts a broad range of programs and activities that support our library in numerous and diverse ways. Many of the Library Foundation's programs are devoted to literacy, reading, and increasing the entire community's access to information and knowledge.
With more than 600,000 users, the Austin Public Library provides a wide range of information and services to enrich the lives of library cardholders and the greater Austin community. Austin Public Library consists of Faulk Central Library, 20 branch libraries, Recycled Reads, and Austin History Center.
Austin's new Central Library, which opened on October 28, 2017, has become a vibrant hub of cultural activity that is redefining Austinites' library experience. Designed by award-winning Lake Flato Architects and Shepley Bullfinch, the building has earned multiple awards and was listed a TIME Magazine Best Place to Visit in 2018.
