Become a Badgerdog Teaching Artist
Badgerdog Teaching Artists are a dynamic group of writers living in Austin who want to bring their art to the classroom for all young writers to enjoy. Our Teaching Artists are poets, novelists, screenwriters, and playwrights who have honed their skills through formal education. Many have published in nationally recognized publications, received fellowships and awards, and are hard at work on their next manuscript.
How To Apply
Badgerdog hires teaching artists – creative writing instructors – on an ongoing basis from January to the end of May. Candidates should possess a combination of teaching experience, writing experience (pursuit of a creative writing MFA or PhD and/or a record of published work), and demonstrated service to the community.
If you’re interested in applying, email a cover letter and resume to badgerdog@austinlibrary.org. The subject line should read ‘Teaching Artist Application’. Cover letters should mention relevant teaching and writing experience, interests and influences as a writer, and an interest in the position.
