Badgerdog Teaching Artists

Badgerdog hires teaching artists (creative writing instructors) on an ongoing basis beginning in January and through the end of May. Candidates should possess a combination of teaching experience, writing experience (pursuit of a creative writing MFA or PhD and/or a record of published work), and demonstrated service to the community.

Those interested in applying should email a cover letter and resume to Programs Manager Katherine Lamb at klamb@austinlibrary.org (the subject line should read: “Teaching Artist Application”). Cover letters should mention relevant teaching and writing experience, interests and influences as a writer, and an interest in the position.

Summer Camp Site Managers

Badgerdog's site managers oversee individual summer camp locations, provide support for teaching artists, ensure safety on campus, communicate with parents and staff, and generally ensure that summer camp runs smoothly from beginning to end.

Those interested in applying should email a cover letter and resume to Programs Manager at klamb@austinlibrary.org. Cover letters should mention any previous experience with youth programs, customer relations, and/or event coordination.

Volunteers and Interns

Badgerdog interns and volunteers contribute in a variety of areas—supporting instructors in the classroom, helping with social media communication, organizing and analyzing program feedback, conducting research, and aiding in administrative duties.

Internships: College students seeking a semester-long internship can earn credits, as their institution allows. Students pursuing a course of study in English, education, communications, or public policy are an ideal fit. Those interested in an internship position should submit a cover letter and resume to Programs Manager Katherine Lamb at klamb@austinlibrary.org(the subject line should read: “Internship Application”). Cover letters should describe the applicant’s course of study, talents and expertise related to the Library Foundation’s mission, and an interest in the position. Resumes should include three references, ideally both academic and professional.

Volunteer Positions: The Library Foundation welcomes volunteers interested in helping with classroom support, marketing, social media, administrative, or research duties. We work with volunteers to accommodate work schedules and other commitments. If you’d like to volunteer, email Programs Manager Katherine Lamb at klamb@austinlibrary.org. In the email, please introduce yourself, describe any related volunteer work, how you’d like to help, and how much time you’re able to commit.
