Austin Youth Poet Laureate Program
Each year, a young poet is chosen from a field of applicants to represent Austin as its Youth Poet Laureate. The Austin Youth Poet Laureate program aims to identify and uplift young writers and leaders who are committed to civic & community engagement, poetry & performance, human relations, diversity, social justice and education across Austin.
The Austin Youth Poet Laureate is a joint program of the Library Foundation and the National Youth Poet Laureate Program led by Urban Word, with additional support from the Austin Public Library, Creative Learning Initiative, Learn All The Time, and Host Publications.

Badgerdog
Badgerdog writing programs follow the workshop model: Writers of all ages and skill levels are invited to examine the techniques of literary artists and experiment with language to communicate experience and meaning. Our goal is to empower Austinites to develop the skills necessary to communicate effectively and beautifully, to amplify individual voices, and to share in a love of reading and writing.

Kids Block Party
The Kids Block Party is an annual festival that celebrates children, literacy, and learning through play. This fun-filled event takes place at the Austin Central Library and gives kids a chance to spend a day creating, discovering, experimenting, moving, dancing, and so much more.

Mayor's Book Club
