Austin Youth Poet Laureate Saaya Accapadi (pictured above), alongside finalists Audrey Han andMichelle Li, was featured at the afterparty for “Dead Deer High,” which premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival.
Created by educators Joshua Roark and Jo Rochelle, the film follows a high school slam poetry team and their English teacher as they prepare for a national competition in the wake of a school tragedy that reshaped their lives.
The Los Angeles-based filmmakers connected with The Library Foundation to invite local youth poets to be part of the celebration.
