What does a bridge mean to you? Join artists Hillerbrand+Magsamen for a playful, hands-on
workshop exploring bridges as places of transformation, imagination, and connection. Using
simple, everyday materials, participants will build their own magical bridge — real or
imagined — and write a short reflection about bridges in their own lives.
What We’ll Do:
- Build small bridges using provided materials
- Reflect and write a short story or thought about transformation
- Photograph your bridge and share it with your writing, adding your voice to a
growing chain of stories in the community - No art or writing experience necessary — just curiosity and a willingness to play
About the Project
This workshop is part of a larger public art project exploring how spaces — like bridges — hold memory and meaning. The workshop will help shape ideas for a new large-scale public artwork by Hillerbrand+Magsamen for Austin-Bergstrom International Airport’s new Arrivals and Departure Hall (estimated to open in the early 2030s).
