The Library Foundation remains deeply committed to advancing library-focused programs and initiatives that reflect and serve our diverse, growing community.
One of the highlights of our support for the Austin Public Library this year was funding the launch of Save the Books, a statewide teen network advocating for the freedom to read. The program includes monthly virtual meet-ups, an op-ed essay contest, and a podcast — empowering teens to raise their voices and safeguard access to literature.
Also, we purchased 1,120 books from local booksellers to enhance Austin Public Library’s collections and programs. These included 100 books for a giveaway at the Kids Block Party and 120 free books for last summer’s Teen Sci-Fi and Fantasy Book Club. We also acquired 750 books for the Banned Book Club initiative, ensuring access to stories that matter.
