People Like Us follows two Black writers searching for peace and belonging in a world riven by gun violence. The compelling story follows two unnamed authors— both Black Americans—as they navigate their careers and personal lives in a complex, often dark world. One is on an international book tour and tries to find belonging, the other is grappling with being a voice of hope for a community devastated by tragedy.
Mott will be joined in conversation with Austin author Evan Narcisse.

About Jason Mott
New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author Jason Mott lives in southeastern North Carolina. He has a BFA in Fiction and an MFA in Poetry from UNC Wilmington. His debut, The Returned, was adapted by Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment and aired on ABC as Resurrection. His fourth novel, Hell of a Book, won the 2021 National Book Award for Fiction. His poetry and fiction have appeared in various literary journals.
