Austin teens! Amplify your voice through our Teen Voices program!
The Teen Voices Program offers multiple ways for 8th–12th graders in Austin to share their stories, ideas, and art with community. Teen Voices is a Community Action Project created by the Library’s Teen Fellowship, which is funded by The Library Foundation
Magazine: Upcoming Themes & Issue Deadlines:
- Censorship (submission deadline: 11/25)
- Self (submission deadline: 1/15)
- Growth (submission deadline: 3/15)
We are accepting all forms of content, including, but not limited to, nonfiction/news, opinion, and creative writing pieces (longform, verse, poetry and lyrics), artwork, photography, comic strips/webtoons, puzzles, games, music, film, media (will be shared via QR code), fashion or life skills columns, or fliers for upcoming free teen events in Austin and more!

Share Your Voice at an Open Mic
We also encourage you to sign up to share your work, talents, hobbies, or passions at our upcoming series of showcase-style open mics, where teens will get the mic for 5 minutes to share their work or passions with others. We’ll have surrogate readers available if you prefer not to be on stage, and are also planning an “anonymous” open mic with a curtain so the speaker can’t be seen by the audience. Dates coming soon, but you can add your name to the interest list here and our teen open mic planners Amelia, Emma and Frank will reach out.
